How should you buy property with your children’s future in mind?

Share

Children grow up, their plans change, but the property remains in a specific location. It is therefore worth choosing developments that are likely to retain their appeal, regardless of whether they are let out, used by the family or sold.

A property bought with your child’s future in mind can serve several purposes. Initially, it can be let out; later, it can become a place to live; and if plans change, it can be sold to help fund their education, a business venture or the purchase of another home.

However, such a decision should not be based on trying to predict where a child will want to live in a dozen or so years’ time. Far more important are the quality of the location, the potential for letting, running costs, the property’s marketability and the flexibility of its future use.

During the INRE Fair, visitors will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from overseas markets and property experts about properties that could form part of a long-term plan for building family wealth.
